in the first three months of the year , 434,775 people waited longer than four hours in hospital emergency wards - some 4,830 patients every day .
over the past year , more than 1.4 million people were forced to wait longer than the target time .
this was down on the previous week when 93.2 per cent were seen within the time limit .
it comes after the department of health last week confirmed the nhs has failed to meet its target every week of the winter .
